Bonsai

Meet the newest addition to my house. I have always been fascinated by the shape and movement of bonsai.  Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope that I don’t kill it!

Kintsugi

This corner was starting to shape up really well (with the new Campaign piece in place) and then the addition of this trio of vintage blue and white pottery.  Sadly one of the jars broke.   I am going to try to glue back the pieces.  This makes me think about how much I love […]

Monday

How do you spend your weekends?  I seem to take time to catch up on things that I didn’t get to during the week.  Errands, grocery shopping and a whole lot of relaxing.  I try not to plan to much, as the downtime really recharges me for the start my work week.   This Sunday was a […]

Allium

I have found a new favorite flower – the allium.  I needed something fun and colorful for a recent photo shoot and these were the perfect addition.  They seem so cartoon like – almost out of a Dr. Suess story!

Knoll vs. Knole

Sounds like a legal case, doesn’t it? The other day I was thinking about the differences between these two. Knoll is, of course, the modern furniture company that was started by Florence and Hans Knoll in 1938 (photo below).  The company produced many designs from famous modernist designers: Marcel Breuer, Mies Van der Rohe, Eero […]

Dhurrie score

I have always loved flat weave Indian Dhurrie area rugs.  A few weeks ago at the flea market, I spotted this vintage out of the corner of my eye and beelined over to snap it up.  I am thinking that I will keep it for myself. Just trying to find the right place for it!

eggs

Who knew I could be inspired by eggs?  They seem like such a simple everyday thing.  I recently picked up these colorful farm fresh eggs and loved all of the subtle colors.  They tasted equally wonderful.  I am such a city boy – but always seem to be fascinated with things from the farm.  Maybe […]

Yellow

Out on a walk the other day, I came across this house with a bright yellow front door. I loved the pop of color – it just made me smile.  For me, colors play a huge part in determining moods.  Don’t you agree? What colors make you happy?  Would you paint your front door a bold […]

A few of my favorite things

It’s hard to walk around my apartment (let’s not forgot that it’s a small apartment- so it doesn’t take me very long!) and pick my favorite things. This corner of my living room might be my new favorite area – as it contains two of my favorite objects: my framed sketch from Albert Hadley and […]

Light show

Thanks to artist Leo Villareal and his latest art installation, the San Francisco Bay bridge recently had 25,000 LED lights added to it.  The skyline sparkles as the lights change patterns and colors.  The lights shine from dusk until 2am on the west span of the bridge. The installation is up until 2015.   It is […]
